Shameful Scuffle...

The recent nerve wracking incident of the mid-air scuffle and the molestation of an air hostess by pilots of Air India is making the headlines these days.

The real disgrace lies in the fact, that a popular airlines of the cadre of Air India was the harbinger of such a tragedy. How it failed to comply with the basic code of decorum and ethics.

Today, as I was surfing the net, I came across this piece of information that the harassed air hostess has endeavored to approach The National Commission for Women for safeguarding her rights.

Another tale of brutality against the fairer sex unfolds here, against which innumerable voices have been raised but been turned to a deaf ear.

Aren’t we supposed to call ourselves a “developing nation”? But do occurrences like these really complement the word “developing”? Somewhere where you can overlook your status and commit gross misdeeds, somewhere where you have the free hand to perpetrate atrocities on the female population, somewhere where law, order and guidelines bite the dust as women become the target vices like domestic violence and sexual abuse, somewhere where chaos reigns by choice and not by chance.

Is this what our country has come up to? Questions are many. Answers... not any.

On a broader perspective, wouldn’t it be more efficacious, if we start conducting ourselves like responsible citizens of a progressive nation and work in unison to impart awareness if we want to land up somewhere near bringing about the reformation process?

The NCW has asked for probe into this matter but it seems to be gender biased probe orders as the aspect of stimulating the pilots by the air hostess must be seen seriously as you cannot clap by one hand only..

Women are misusing the laws. Any scuffle can be termed as molestation and men put behind bar while women on the other hand can even publicly molest, kiss without consent any men and get away with it. What a draconian system of law in India.

The airhostess filed a complaint of molestation against them after landing in Delhi alleging harassment on the flight.

On the other hand, the pilots have charged her with protecting her purser friend, who misbehaved and compromised with flight safety, from action.

The purser was stated to have a commercial pilot license (CPL).

Air India has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Its better to reach to the conclusion after the investigation is complete. Any party could be wrong.

True, we mustn’t jump to conclusions so soon Swati. Nevertheless such acts undoubtedly are a spot on the country’s hospitality sector.

Let the final report in this case be submitted.Let’s not beat the bush. But I feel that the lady is being over smart in the whole episode. She is undoubtedly trying to have the upper hand and that places her intentions in the dock.

What was the urgency to reach National Commission for Women ?

Doesn’t it seem that women by the designs of law in India always have an upper hand when it comes to cases like this?

Is this really fair? I had been following some banter and fights here on the Domestic Violence Act, Renuka Choudhary etc.

Indian laws are stupid on issues like these. I guess India can do itself a world of good if it emulates the laws prevalent in the West. There, you can’t even force your wife to have sex with you. It will amount to rape. But laws are not loaded in favour of women.

That’s true equality.

@Vishnu

You got it right. That’s the problem. Here the laws are tilted in favour of women. That does not augur well for the concept of justice !!

Dear Shujaat,

Good, you care about the country. A few questions for you to ask your self,

1. Have you bribed any official(govt./non-govt.) to get your work done?

2. have you tried to play with figures to save income-tax.

3. have you ever passed comments on other girls/women?

there are a lot more questions in similar lines, and you must be having a lot of answers as yes. So should i take you(a single person) to be the face of indian culture, society and people???

I have been following your comments on other blogs and feel that you shouldn’t be judgemental on the basis of mere complaint, hue & cry!

Tell me what makes you feel that the women is not lying??

Kris!

You speak aptly Kris! Whoever is the culprit here, but as a whole the country’s reputation gets tainted when such happenings make news.

And as per the latest news the pilots involved have been suspended.
