Rakhi Sawant first did it. Now Rahul Mahajan follows in her footsteps. Ya, you guessed it right.
Its the Swayamvar series being aired on television these days. Sorry to say but I am apart from those viewers who say that ‘Rakhi ka Swayamvar” rocks.
What I don’t get is that, is this extravaganza really worth it? Are you really are on the lookout for a real life partner or is this some sort of cheap, planned publicity stunt these celebrities are after?
Prospective brides and grooms are invited, interviewed, even made to dance on screen and heaven knows not what. Love happens on television itself. Not to mention the bevy of fake relatives from the celebrity side that abound the show.
A real drama in the making!
On closer introspection, all this resembles more of a reality show than a real Swayamvar. Swayamvar is considered to be something sacred, an event where you get to choose your soul mate. Needless to say it was popular in the ancient times.
Maybe modernization has transformed the true significance of Swayamvar. Tainted its sheer essence. And maybe people today are using it as a means of gaining fame and popularity.
We need to know that its a part of Indian culture and tradition- this Swayamvar. So if we really don’t want our customs to be extinct, then lets start treating them with more respect

Channel gets TRP, Celebrity gets publicity, Contestants gets recognition.
People are fools to waste their time on such useless programs.
Rakhi and her so called fiance have already announced to not to get married. Its a stupid show.
